PULLING THEM OUT FROM MY BRAIN |Embroidery| 2022
I found my old MP4 when our family moved to our new house a few years ago. I opened it and listened to the music in it again. It was a really interesting experience to see how music can contain memories for me. It aroused my memories of middle school. The project aims to visualize this unique experience. Therefore, I visualize the music by pulling out my most memorable parts and transforming them into dots based on how the rhythm flows. Then, I apply these dots to garments I wore during middle school and use strings to pull them in order to create new silhouettes.
This was the first time I tried using the construction and pattern of the garment to convey my design concept for the project. It was also the starting point where I decided to change my MA study field area from womenswear design to pattern design.
